ABOUT US
My name is Emilie Guillon, and I obtained my PhD in Cell and Developmental Biology at the University of Lyon 1 in 2014. My supervisor was Florence Ruggiero, a renowned expert in the extracellular matrix (ECM) working at ENS de Lyon. I investigated the role of ECM proteins in the development of the neuromuscular system, using zebrafish as a model and combining genome editing and imaging.
Following my PhD, I had the privilege of working with Scott Holley at Yale University (USA), where I delved into the role of ECM in the biomechanics of zebrafish vertebral column development, a project that bridged biology and physics.
Back to France, I had the opportunity to work on a last research project (ANR funded) that aimed at characterizing the composition and topology of ECM in the muscle stem cell niche by combining transcriptomic data analysis and 3D imaging.
After these 10 exciting years of academic research in biological sciences, I decided to create ShapeyourScience to ally (1) my desire for independence and entrepreneurship and (2) my love for science and communication.
